a filter that removes impurities from the oil used to lubricate an internal-combustion engine
A cartridge-filled canister placed in an engines lubricating system to strain dirt and abrasive materials out of the oil.
An oil filter is a filter to remove contaminants from engine oil, transmission oil, lubricating oil, or hydraulic oil. Oil filters are used in many different types of hydraulic machinery.
A vehicle that runs on rails, esp. a railroad car
A railroad car of a specified kind
the compartment that is suspended from an airship and that carries personnel and the cargo and the power plant
a wheeled vehicle adapted to the rails of railroad; "three cars had jumped the rails"
A road vehicle, typically with four wheels, powered by an internal combustion engine and able to carry a small number of people
a motor vehicle with four wheels; usually propelled by an internal combustion engine; "he needs a car to get to work"
Re-considering my lifestyle choices
18 oil changes, 2 fuel filter changes, 2 ATF changes, and a battery swap later...and 266 000+ kms on the car...
On Saturday I finally took advantage of a hazardous waste collection campaign by rounding up used engine oil, oil filters, fuel filters, ATF, and the car's first battery for disposal.
As if we don't already know, this photo is reflective of the waste produced by maintaining a gasoline vehicle. And I haven't even included the waste items from maintenance performed at chain/retail auto shops. It is clear that this industry is so focused on disposable and one-time use items. It is time for change. It is time I change.
I'm a cynic, but check out "Who Killed the Electric Car" and let me know what you think...
the oil filter from hell
this thing would not come off, i tried rubber gloves (for grip), C-clamps, those screw tightened metal ties, and some other things but the oil-filter-wrench did the trick (5 hours later).
