A tree off the Great Horton, Bradford, North, UK
-- torn between nature and abstraction.
the point of the photo was the tree -- a very strange tree to find in northern England. It's common enough, but looks somewhat too succulent to be native.
[It's a bit strange looking tree to stand in such northern climate. It rather has a tropical look. We wondered who brought it here.
We guessed it was one of the previous owners who owned that relatively large house, right next to the Great Horton, in front of that Mosque-looking carpet store, a very large - and bit gloomy, or say bit cheerless looking one, in white and blue.
You see a trash pile. Previous owner left. Someone else came in. White Flight. In USA it is called. I think it was kitchen cabinet - particle boards one. Someone did one small remodeling job and left pieces - and once that happens, that can stay days and months - just thrown there.(Say until the next Guy Fawkes night - around this neighborhood, it's like Halloween comes with fire. )
Or it could have been someone from South Asia - came with money, or became rich here and moved out. We continued to wonder. Because it's such a strange looking tree. We tried to think anywhere else we find the similar one in the area, but couldn't.
Either way it needs a bit of money to get such thing planted. And it's not very common to see money spent in such irregular way around there.
The photo is taken sometime in late 2001. We just Googled the map and found the same exact corner and seemingly this tree is still standing there. (Hi, tree.)
She insisted getting photo of the tree. I said it might be difficult. She tried few times. And handed me a camera. I looked into the finder once, and said, 'It'd be better to focus on those trash pile behind the tree.'
