Snowflake Set-up
This is my set-up for my snowflake image. I developed a special technique to enable me to take the image. The lens is a CPC 28MM f2.8. Attached to the filter threads is a Nikon BR-2 reversing ring. Attached to the BR-2 are two 36mm extension tubes in the Nikon Pre-AI mount, first a PRO and second a Vivitar AT-3. Behind the tube is a Fotodiox Nikon mount to Canon mount adapter ring and mounted to my Canon Digital Rebel XT body. Attached to the mount of the CPC lens is a Nikon PK-3 tube and attached to this is a Nikon F K3 ring. These tubes provide the necessary spacing to allow me to brace this assembly flush against the inside layer of glass. Any minor distance adjusting is obtained by turning the focus ring on the lens. The K3 ring is a manual extension ring and has no protruding parts. This ring set threads together and this ring has a felt-like material on the end of the threads, allowing me to brace this assembly flush against the glass and move it without scratching the glass. This allows me to image hand held and braced against the window, using Av mode with available light ambient light. I believe the macro magnification of this set-up to be approximately 5:1.
Imaged with a Sony DSC-H5B 7mp point and shoot digital camera.
