NYC Willoughby's Camera & Gimbel's 1977
NYC Willoughby's Camera Store & Gimbels 1977
I was dismayed last week to walk by Herald Square and see the camera store's sign mechanically still extant but with the letters "99c discount" instead. Oh let us weep for the great many wonderful NYC stores lost forever.
See the long gone Gimbels sign also? As a little kid, I remember my mandatory tagging along with Mom complaining about her aching feet as we went back at forth between Macy's and Gimbels every Christmas for what felt like a hundred hours. It was pure torture at the time and one of my fondest memories now: Filtered by time's magic wand.
I will take a 2007 after shot when I get a chance.
This was taken with my Minolta SRT-102 in 1977 on Tri-x ASA 400.
