Ladies and gents... I present the Fujica ST705 SLR :) Complete with Fujion 1.8 55mm lens. All for the princely sum of ?7!!!! Mwahahahahahahah

I couldn't believe the manual and service cards were actually still sealed!! The pages have been untouched since 1977! This camera either saw little action or belonged to one *careful* owner!

The ST705 came out as a smaller version of the S801, which had a top shutter speed of 1/2000s!!!! It was very well made and used two silicone cells next to the viewfinder for metering. They are very accurate and respond instantly to light, fast than the Praktica's CdS meter for example.

The camera took two standard SR44 1.5v Silver Oxide batteries so no need to search for mercury batteries.

The M42 mount of the Fujica has a 'lock', which basically stops the lens from turning once it's screwed into place. This feature, along with the open aperture metering, only worked for Fujinon lenses. Other M42 lenses are fully compatible but will not have open aperture metering. i.e. I had to stop down the lens in order to get a reading.

The film advance lever is very very smooth and feels quite luxurious. Quite a different feeling from the communist cranking of the Praktica! :) The shutter is very very responsive and the mirror kickback is minimal so I felt confident handholding it at 1/15s and maybe even 1/8s.

The case is made from pebbled leather and has stood the test of time remarkably well! No splitting or cracking anywhere. Overall a fine example of Japanese camera technology.
