Baby Signing: How to Talk with Your Baby in American Sign Language
Babies usually start to talk around the age of two, but they can learn to communicate through sign language as early as six months. Using simple signs, babies can-and love to-tell their parents how they feel and what they need. Rather than guessing what is in the mind of a fussy infant, parents could "talk" with their babies and discover when they are hungry, tired, ready to play, feeling unwell, or ready for a hug. Learning sign language also helps babies acquire the mental building blocks for speaking, and studies prove that babies who learn to sign are better at language than those who don't. This new book from sign language teacher Andrea Fixell and musician Ted Stafford uses songs, games, photos, and easy-to-follow instructions to help parents teach basic American Sign Language to babies. The stand-up format makes it easy to learn and practice the simple hand gestures with your baby, helpful tips offer encouragement, and silly songs ensure you both have fun while learning.

Baby Crow Rescue Montage - Millie and the SSPCA to the Rescue of Russell
On Wednesday afternoon our cat Millie discovered what we thought was a baby crow hiding in our garden. Millie seemed fascinated by it, but wasn’t harming it. We thought it might be injured but it kept escaping into the vegetation. We kept Millie in the house after that. The bird was still there a day later cowering in the bushes and obviously couldn’t fly. There had been no sign of parent-birds for over 24 hours and the baby would have been easy prey for more aggressive cats than our Millie.
We phoned the local SSPCA (Scottish Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) and they said that baby crows couldn’t fly for the first ten days. We caught and boxed Russell Crow(e) as we termed him and an SSPCA ambulance-driver named Kieran, came and checked out the fledgling. Fortunately it was uninjured and seemed to have taken some of the bread and water we had left out for it. . Russell was taken off to the SSPCA aviary in a little carrying-box, to be released as soon as he/she was strong enough and could fly! Aaaaaaw shucks, I just love a happy ending. The montage shows Kieran the Ambulance-driver examinning Russell and the close-up shows the blue-eyed baby bird Russell. Kieran quickly soothed the nervous baby and he calmed-down quickly after being gently stroked..
68/365 - All Dressed Up With Somewhere To Go...
and I am not so sure I am going to make it...
The baby is losing his mind...has been for about an hour and a half. So take onions, tomats and cheese off my already non existent eat list, cuz that is all I had today.
My mom is here walking him, and walking him and walking him.
Not only that, hubby is stuck on the highway, 5 minutes from our house, in stopped traffic. Did I mention we live in the middle of nowhere? This never happens. Must be something big.
So, I am not sure if we are even getting out...we need to leave at 5:45 to get to the party on time and it is now 5:33 with no sign of my husband and no sign that the baby is going to stop screaming.
Tant pis...extraordinarily specatacular evenings are bound to happen again, no biggie if we miss this one, right?
