We know that tv gives good and bad influences to our children, so the best way in protect our children from any bad influence is by handling how much they watch tv in a day.
Here are tips on how to use television as a learning tool:
- Limit the amount of TV your child watches
this is very important, if not, your child may become addict to tv. We must make sure tv is not 24hours on, kalau I kat rumah, jarang sangat on tv except kalau ada certains program tv yang I nak tengok. Tapi myLove memang jenis suka tv tu sedia on, so bila dia kat rumah memang tv tu sepanjang masa on, hmmm... tak dapek den nak nolong hah!

- Watch programs, not television
haa that's why tak boleh on tv dan biar saja. Kena pilih2 rancangan apa nak tengok.

- Choose calm, quiet programs
ini pun penting, kanak2 lebih mudah absorb information dari programs yang calm and quiet, macam sesame street tu, kan slow and steady jer. Lagi satu, elakkan mereka tengok rancangan yang ganas2, merepek2 dan tak berfaedah, semua tu akan ditiru!

- Watch with your toddler
kita akan lebih mudah memantau anak2 bila kita join sekali aktiviti mereka.

- Help your toddler watch with a critical eye
kita boleh bantu development anak2 melalui tv dengan explain this and that dari apa yang mereka tonton.

- Extend the show's content with activities or books
kita boleh guna info yang anak2 dapat dari tv untuk galakkan mereka explore di dunia nyata.

Lately, kanak2 yang berpenyakit ketagihkan tengok tv ni dah makin ramai, seiring laa dengan ketagih main komputer/tv games. Andai kita berjaya bendung dan kawal masalah tv ni sejak anak2 masih kecil, insyaAllah kita mampu disiplinkan mereka dengan jadual harian bila mereka dah makin besar. Betul tak?
Actually, I pun masih berkira2 dengan soal tv untuk Rafiqh. Tak dinafikan, memang senang nak buat kerja bila anak dah ralit dengan tv tapi dibimbangi kesannya tv jadi tarikan utama pulak nanti. Buat masa sekarang, I belum dedahkan Rafiqh dengan tv, memang nampak tv tak menjadi tarikan buatnya berbanding masa baru2 balik sini dulu, dia pandai tengok tv (masa dalam pantang, I suka tengok tv and just put him in front of tv too). Bila dah lama2 I kontrol tv, Rafiqh turns to level 0 back. Kenapa I cakap macam tu? Sebab commonly babies at his age dah pun pandai tertarik/pilih2 untuk suka iklan tertentu, dah mula pandai concentrate tengok tv, tapi Rafiqh belum lagi... Seboleh mungkin I will try to control him from watching tv too much. In fact, even for cartoons and anime which are so glamour in Japan, I will select carefully for him. Kalau semua bagi dia tengok, nanti kena rebut2 remote tv la pulak kan. Hish, dah laa tv ada satu jer, uwaa dame2!

Nelson, Cora, Nurses

Iím in my hotel room at the Liberator here in Loja, Ecuador. The flight here was 2 hours late, but it really didnít make any difference. Cora and Nelson Samaniego, Interplastís hosts in Loja, were at the airport to pick me up and take me to the site. I experienced an absolutely hair-raising ride from the airport over a mountain pass with near misses of big slow moving buses and oncoming cars. The Samaneigos were completely unconcerned. They described their ambitious goals for my visit: to help promote the idea of a regional burn unit that could cover the entire district of Loja as well as Northern Peru; to teach; and to do some needed surgery if there was time.

Nelson and Cora (and their daughter Stephanie) then took me to a soccer game. The local Loja team was up against a more powerful rival from Guayaquil and trounced them 4-0. There was tremendous exuberance in the stadium, with many people wearing the local colors, including Nelson.

We followed this with dinner at the new KFC restaurant (been there for about 4 months- I guess a sign that Loja is advancing economically!) and then did a tour of the new burn unit, still under construction.

It was an eye-opener for sure. They had two nurses looking after seven patients; four children and three adults. Three of them are from one family and share one room. Among them is a severely burned young boy of about five-years old who is probably going to die soon (he has burns on over 80 percent of his body, including deep face burns). He is lying on a bed with a wood crate over top of him that is covered with blankets. There is a gooseneck lamp inside the crate to try to keep him a little warm. He is slathered with flamazine, and has a foley and an IV. He seems to be unconscious, which is probably a good thing.
