The Paterson Silk Machinery Exchange, at 16 Spruce Street, was built in the 19th century as part of the Rogers Locomotive Works. From 1928 to 1956 it housed the Paterson Silk Machinery Exchange, which reconditioned machines key to the city's textile industry, and at its height comprised 800 silk operations.
