Drapery is a general word referring to cloths or textiles (Old French drap, from Late Latin drappus ). It may refer to cloth used for decorative purposes - such as around windows - or to the trade of retailing cloth, originally mostly for clothing, formerly conducted by drapers.

ruffle: pleat or gather into a ruffle; "ruffle the curtain fabric"
(pleat) fold into pleats, "Pleat the cloth"
Fold into pleats
Brim is drapery pleat stiffener--two layers
The brim is sort of ok--would be better if I used something curved (like cowboy hat bills). The hardest part is stitching the top of the hat to the brim so it lays down--it won't lay properly, but the hat is so busy in the photos it doesn't look to bad on him. Think I need to move the "tack" forward though.
