Make-Do
This chandelier is original to the house. It's located in the dining room and I was getting quite tired of it. Over the years (15), I've taken off the black shades for awhile and then put them back on. Recently my husband and I decided to upgrade and went shopping for a new light. After a long search, I decided the one we have is much better quality than those we found out on the marketplace, so why not just gussy it up a tad?
I'm a collector of old linens and lace, so I took Golden Soft Matte Gel and glued old lace haphazardly on each shade. I then purchased some bead garland at Megan Morrison's in DeKalb, Illinois at an After-Christmas Sale for around $3.00/each and draped it to hang down.
While in Illinois, I stopped by Bergner's and found the bird ornament. It was marked 75% off and I left thinking I didn't need it. But the bird lodged itself into my mind's eye, so the next day I went back and picked it up for a whopping .99!
I'm so pleased with the outcome!

We have mounted hardware for side drape for window. I used every scrap of this plaid fabric (thank you, Mill Ends going out of business sale). Will be putting lace or thin linen curtain over the window itself.
Front door still not painted--weather turned cold and we've had another snow so can't leave it open for hours. Very sunny day today.
Still playing with repositioning items hung on walls. We're enjoying Dr. Breckenridge's heron picture in this position.
