One of the homes on the home tour. Leigh & Justin Wilde
This unique, modified Craftsman bungalow with a Victorian flare was built in 1906. As the neighborhood changed, the house was subdivided into three apartments from the 1930s through the 1960s. It was occupied by more than 75 residents. Among them were a bricklayer, trolley operator, masseur, banker and attorney. The Wilde’s son, Gavin, is the first known baby to reside at the address. Renovations were undertaken in the 1970s, including enclosure of an upstairs sleeping porch. During this period, the Coca-Cola Company used the front porch in an advertisement, as seen framed in the kitchen, and the upstairs bathroom sported a hot tub and skylight.
As you step into updated Southern living, note the original heart pine floors, plantation shutters, wrap around porch, entry foyer and parlor. Savor the view from the master suite which has an indoor-outdoor fireplace leading to a screened-in porch. Other intriguing items include the ceiling tile in the downstairs sitting room and the artwork in the stairwell, purchased from Inman Park Festival vendors. There is stained glass salvaged from a Jewish temple in the guest bathroom and upstairs sitting room.
Leigh and Justin purchased the house in 2004 after remodeling their previous bungalow in Candler Park. To mark their Inman Park home’s 100-year anniversary, they landscaped the front and back yard, reclaimed an upstairs bedroom, added the master suite-designed to accentuate the downtown views-and remodeled the kitchen and downstairs bathroom. The couple gives special thanks to their beloved friends at Northcutt Carpentry, Superior Scapes, and Serenity Landscape Designs.
