Old Town, New Hope
Senoia is a small crossroads town in middle Georgia about an hour south of Atlanta. I grew up on a farm near here but rarely came to this place except when riding the bus to elementary school or playing little league baseball at the ballpark near the railroad tracks. It always seemed to have a few stores but over the years Wal-Mart and nearby outlet malls took their toll on the hardware and furniture stores. It seemed, like so many southern towns, that Senoia would simply go away.
Now, a revitalization has begun. As Atlanta expands outward, Senoia has attracted new businesses and homes. The Coffee Company, new restaurants and other things are adding new life.
In recent years, too, several movies have been filmed here, starting with "Fried Green Tomatoes", "Driving Miss Daisy" and numerous others.
Kinda cool to see.
