Wicker Furniture Cover

Basket
This is a woven wicker 'egg' basket. Although wicker baskets have been produced in Britain since the middle ages, this particular design was popularly used as a shopping basket, throughout the 1950s and 60s. Wicker shopping baskets were durable, reusable and also environmentally friendly.
This wicker basket has been woven into a semi-oval shape. Most of the basket has been left in its natural wicker state, apart from the handle which has been finished with a green plastic covering.
Wicker work is the general name given to crafts that use natural products, such as cane, willow and rattan to weave into items of domestic and general use. Wicker can be used to make a number of versatile and useful products, including baskets, fishing creels and furniture.
