Thankfully, the stitches came out today, bruises are clearing up and lip is healing well. And best of all, the tetanus shot was as easy as anything, and no residual pain (glad I didn't have the injection in the backside like recommended by some).

It was a small wait at the RPH after-hours GP clinic, with a women who injured herself while gardening, a gent injured by his cat and few with seasonal ailments further up the priority queue.

I didn't mind that at all, as it allowed me to relax and soak in the atmosphere, send rye tweets about the lack of gender and age appropriate magazines, and allow the mother to have a bit of a giggle while waiting. Her tween daughter said several times that mum wouldn't need stitches. I suggested that she make a wager that if stitches were required, her daughter would have to go into medicine.

If the giggle then was golden, then both her and my chuckling later were totally priceless.

After seeing the Doctor, I was escorted into the treatment room where the mother's hand was being patched up. As I walked in, she commented "I won the bet" causing me to snigger some more.

The daughter didn't want to leave her mother's side, and from the conversation in the adjoining cubicle shall we say the daughter was more than a little queasy as things progressed. After the nurse had finished with the mother they made their way to Reception to complete their business. As soon as they arrived at the desk, the daughter fainted on the spot at the sight of some remaining blood on the mother's dressing.

Queue commotion in the waiting room, and the sound of a thud as her head hit the reception desk. I feel sorry for the poor girl, particularly as she came to she no doubt would have heard me cackling like nobody's business up the corridor.

Anyway, stitches removed, injection done, DB4 filed and the lovely waitresses tipped - I was back on my way smiling and on the way to more heeling.
