Week 18 - She watchs over me
Until this very day, Sunday, i had no idea of what i would do for this week's photo.Probably i had too many ideas and was too short on time, or maybe i was just overall lazy,as it seems to be a constant mood on my weekends. However,my dear friend Laetitia Silva came around so we could study a little and we ended up making videos and photos for her Multimedia work and while doing so we came up with this.
By yourself you can come with a hundred ideas,theories and explanations,but here is mine.
There's no sexual connotation in this, but a simple pure friendship. We know our friends as they are,naked if you want so, you know how it's like to be with them, without them, almost be in her skin, feel what they feel, experience and live what they go through and this is what the image explains. We are friends since October, we meet in our first classes in college and ever since we have been unstopabble. It's the kind of friendship that blooms out of the blue and you know you can trust that other person, save with them your deepest secrets, laugh with them, cry with them, talk for hours or just laugh. She sort of is my other half when it comes to a lot of things, so here it's, to our friendship and to this beautiful woman, with the most amazing soul, voice and mind!
Make-up box 60th Birthday cake
I made this cake (which is from the Planet Cake book) for my Mum's best friend's 60th birthday. We traveled to the Hunter Valley with it this weekend. Sweet Art (Paddington) made the cake for her birthday party which was on Saturday, but I made a cake for her actual birthday which is on Tuesday (she hasn't received it yet, and I left it in the safe hands of my parents!)
I wish I could say I had fun making this cake, but it was a nightmare. To some it might look simple, but I really had a lot of trouble. It must have been doomed from the start as I even seemed to have a lot of trouble just covering it!!! (Wish I knew why!!!) The make-up part was OK, but the black fondant was impossible, and just getting a square of it on the top was awful. I knew it would be tricky, but I had no idea how difficult I would find it!
There were only 2 things that I was really happy with - my board and the nailpolish bottles (made from modeling paste).
The cake is caramel mudcake. I really wanted to use caramel ganache, but seeing as it was traveling and not being consumed until Tuesday I used dark choc ganache.
Despite all my troubles, I thought it turned out OK in the end...until I saw the Sweet Art cake...then I just got completely depressed!
