{197} ice machine
A year ago when we bought our house, we bought new appliances. Jean has battled with the manufacturer for a year because our refrigerator has been very noisy. A repair man has been out to service it several times, but it's a defect with the motor.
Finally, Jean was fed up and filed a complaint with the BBB. Two weeks later, we were offered a new fridge. We got a fancier model; this one has crushed ice & water dispenser.
I guess the lesson here is, if you don't like something, be patient & complain. That's Jean's credo, anyway.
This is the only photo I took today. I tried to get some of Jacques and Karah for my class assignment, but they wouldn't stand still long enough for me to press the shutter.
Peanut butter ice cream
David has been on a bit of an ice cream kick lately, with this flavor being his (and my) favorite.
Here's the recipe (courtesy of Veganomicon):
1/2 cup cream of coconut milk**
1 cup soy milk
1 cup sugar
6 ounces silken tofu
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Throw all of the ingredients into a blender (or food processor) and blitz until smooth. Pour into an ice-cream maker and follow the machine manufacturer's instructions.
**Place your can of coconut milk in the fridge the night before you're going to make your ice cream. When it comes time to make your ice cream, use the "cream" that has risen to the top.
