CHOC Walk 2011 - Disneyland
This past Sunday, my family, along with 14,000 others crowded Main Street USA at 6:00 AM waiting for the start of the 21st CHOC Walk in the Park, the annual fundraising effort for Children's Hospital of Orange County.
For the past nine years, the CHOC Walk has been held at Disneyland, meandering through both Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure Park. This year, more than 1.6 million dollars was raised to help fund research and daily operations at CHOC.
My son's life was saved by CHOC 21 years ago, when he was a newborn infant. Since then, we have been involved in every single CHOC Walk, including the inaugural Walk in 1990. As a family, I am proud to say we have raised over $40,000 for CHOC over the years. This year, my Flickr friend Bill McIntosh joined us on the walk. I am also very happy to say that my Flickr friends helped us out with donations totaling nearly $1,000!
