Jean, an Haitian immigrant, came by bus to DC from Florida with several other Haitian immigrants to protest in front of the White House on Wednesday, September 16, 2009. The immigrants at the rally are asking President Obama to extend the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) of Haitians currently living in the U.S. which would enable them to stay in the country legally. TPS is a temporary immigration status granted to eligible nationals of designated countries.
