I love this skirt. My mom bought it for me when I was 17 at a Loehmann’s final, 70-90% off phase of their going-out-of-business sale. We didn’t have a lot of money growing up, so the fact that my mom bought me this Calvin Klein (!!!) miniskirt just seemed like the fanciest thing in the world to me then!
Its teensy pumpkin plaid cheeriness remind me so vividly of my life then -- I wore it all through my last year of high school, to the first photography classes I took, on my first date with the boy I’d end up going out with for the next 5 years (road trip following Belle and Sebastian on their “Boy With The Arab Strap” tour - I was so obsessed, I brought every member of the band a gift for all 3 shows I saw them play!). Although it seemed really passe to me for a while, I could never part with it, sentimental girl that I am, and I’m so glad I didn’t, because, um, ELEVEN YEARS (damn!) later, it feels just right again.

Red shirts for sale
It was more carnival than a rally. Probably because I was there at noon time which is obviously the hottest time of the day. There were so much business there and I finally understood a commentary that "such rallies help to boast the economy and hell, let them go on"
As a "farang" I should not comment on the politics there in Thailand. Think that's basic courtesy. But I had my fair share of thoughts as I walked through the place. Hmmm, it's not a crime to buy the red shirt isn't it?
The tuk tuk driver I met later on was wearing half red and proudly pull his red shirt as I got on his tuk tuk from there.
