This was put together after a week of last minute Halloween preparations. He originally wanted to be Animal and I wanted to be Gonzo but I just didn't have enough time or resources to do that so we settled for Honeydew and Beaker instead! It's not a famous He & She couple but nevertheless, a great DUO!

How I did it

Dr. Bunsen Honeydew Costume:
Head: 4 Layers of "cooked" paper mache over the period of a week onto a punch ball (3 pack of punch balls $1 at Dollar Tree). For those of you who don't know, the cooked paper mache makes a stronger bond, and dries clear which is why I recommend it. I would paper mache one layer a night before bed, and by the time I came home from school the next day it was dry and I'd do the next layer. After all the layers were dried over 5 days, I then taped cardboard pieces with blue painters tape to the paper mache ball and added polyfil to it to create the ears and nose. I cut a hole out for the mouth and to put my head inside. I did a coat of Elmer's glue on the inside to help seal it up so the dust didn't get in my eyes or hair when wearing it because I didn't have any polyurethane or shellac. Then using a hot glue gun, I covered the whole thing with green stretch felt ($2.97 for one yard at Walmart). I painted a pair of giant sunglasses black after popping out the lenses and hot glued those in place afterward (Big sunglasses, $1 at Dollar Tree). I then took some black women's tights and cut, stretched, and glued them in the mouth section so people couldn't see me, but I could still kind of see out (Leggings $1 at Dollar Tree).
Hands: Light green knit gloves ($1 at Joann Fabric) [I should note I did make 4 finger gloves out of extra stretch felt but they ripped so I had these as a backup]
Outfit: White lab coat (free! I had it from when I worked in a photo lab) Black vest (free, already owned one) Dark pants (free, already had!) dark shoes (again, FREE, I already had them!). Giant red tie, made from cardboard, hot glue and red remnant fabric ($1 at Walmart)

Beaker Costume:
Head: Poster board stapled and taped into a tube ($1 at Walmart). Shoulder notches were cut out and the mouth was cut out. Spray adhesive (free, already owned) was then used to adhere light pink fuzzy fabric to it ($2.97 for one yard at Walmart). I hot glued 2 styrofoam balls on for the eyes with black painted dots in the middle for the pupils (2 pack of styrofoam balls $1 at Dollar Tree). Black felt and some black women's tights were cut, stretched, and glued to the inside of the mouth section so people couldn't see me, but I could still kind of see out (Leggings $1 at Dollar Tree, I had plenty so I used the same pair for the other head). I couldn't find orange fur fabric anywhere so I had to buy 2 white pre-cut fur sections and spray paint them orange. (Fur $4 at JoAnn Fabric, Spray paint $3.79 at Walmart). That was cut and hot glued on after it dried. The nose was an orange fleece baby blanket that was cut, stuffed with polyfil and then hot glued onto the headpiece (fleece baby blanket $1 at Dollar Tree).
Hands: Pink knit gloves ($1 at Joann Fabric) [I should note I did make 4 finger gloves out of extra pink fabric but they ripped, didn't stretch, and were too small so I had these as a backup]

[about $8 for Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, about $12 for Beaker]

This was taken in the late 80s/ Early 90s. If you remember the show, these were the real guys (And girl)!

These guys revolutionized police work. Basically, they were all narcs, they would come in buy your dope one day, and raid your place the next wearing jeans, black tee shirts, N.L.V.P.D. Ball caps, and bandannas over their faces like old western outlaws. In this shot, they actually got *Real uniforms!
