(Dining Tables) The first dining tables of which survivors remain are the type known as refectory tables. They are made usually of oak, and one of the earliest, at Penshurst Place in Kent, has a typical thick top of joined planks supported on three separate trestles.

dining area & bookshelves
we need to organize the bookshelves, they are kind of a mess. also, we have some nice chilewich and crate & barrel placemats that are not in this picture.
the dining table is expandable, which has been nice for the couple times we've had family or friends over. we figured someday we'll have a bigger place, so we might as well invest in a table that can move with us.

There are three legs, consisting of a stud, 2x2 dish, stud stud arrangement to keep it bolted to the carpet and the right height. I'm pretty sure it's accurate scale, but the actual table is five planks wide, not four.
