The tops, bottoms and all edges are sealed and the appearance is clear, satin smooth, low sheen and natural in color. There is no odor to the finish and they can be cleaned like any other counter surface using soap and water, bleach or nail polish remover. The table, when found in the cellar, was an unsightly dry, grey, dusty bit of wood. We brought it upstairs, and I washed it, put some restor-a-finish on it, and a single coat of beeswax.
Bits of old newspaper are still stuck to the top, but since this is going to be a collage/mixed media table, it's only fitting. :-)

I bought this table at KMart in 1999 or 2000 and already refinished the top once from blond to walnut. Now we want the white parts black and the natural wood red maple instead of walnut. Here goes!
