Orange Toy Truck
Our gardener found this wonderfully weathered truck in one of our flower beds. I wonder how old it is - 1950's maybe?
If toys could talk...
UPDATE:
I reached out to a friend who collects toy trucks to try to learn about our pickup. This is what he wrote back.
"My guess is that it a small Tootsietoy pickup, similar to a Ford but probably not licensed by them so it has a more generic look. Late 50's-early 60's type of truck. I have seen these - I think I may still have a yellow version that I had as a child. Cast from pot metal and probably painted with a good coat of good old fashioned lead based paint, Tootsietoy made all sizes and types of toy vehicles going all the way back to the 1930's or before. Your "find" could be 50 years old or somewhat newer. And I am almost sure 100% Made in America.
Perfect for playing with outside in the dirt because it had no chassis or undercarriage to get clogged up like a Matchbox or Hot Wheels vehicle does, who knows the mystery behind your particular truck. How exactly did it end up in the garden and where is the orginal owner now????"
So now we have a Tootsietoy pickup to add to the 1930s, 1940s & 1970s license plates we've found on the property. Now were is that suitcase full of cash buried??
Red Toy Truck
I saw this little toy truck while walking around the show. I ended up talking with the owner, an artist that travels all over the country to these shows to show off is cartoon automotive drawings. I originally wanted to take this photo because I thought this was some super old toy truck. It turn out that I was wrong, the was only a few years old. It was a gift that was full of peanuts when he first got it. He thought it was cool so he started bringing it to these shows. Eventually his friends, at the different shows, started painting new designs on it. The next picture in this album is of the bottom of this truck where everyone that has added to the design has signed and dated it.
