This is my little "invention" I came up with a couple of weeks back while the wife and kids were away. My lighting setups generally need a bit of work, and I needed a way to diffuse the light coming from this spotlight I have installed in a work-light, but it gets too hot to have anything close to the bulb. We tried that once, way back when I did that clone shot with Gretchen, but in the course of taking those shots, it burned a nasty spot onto the clothe we were using to diffuse the light.

So I came up with this idea to keep the diffusing fabric further from the hotness of the lightbuld itself. It's just a bit of wire fencing cut so that it can fit around the outside rim of the work light. It actually works pretty well. The fabric doesn't get too hot even when the light is on for a couple of hours. I wouldn't want to leave it on all night or anything, but it's pretty good while I'm working on a shot.

I had to go with this shot with my eyes closed, because my eyes were all red. Was a busy day of going to the Central Milwaukee library for the kids to make gingerbread houses, and then we picked up a pretty cheap christmas tree at Menards, got it setup and mostly decorated. Nice to actually get something done on a weekend.

The other evening I have been to one of my favourite museums in London: the Natural History Museum.

There is a lovely ice rink just outside and also all the trees are decorated with lights... such a lovely atmosphere!

In this moment, also, it's on a magnificent exhibition called ''Darwin Big Idea''... the entrance is just ?9 and it's one of the most inspiring, fun and well organised exhibition I have seen in the last months. Highly recommended!!
