W.S. Tyler Company Cleveland Ohio Industrial Ton Cap Wire Mesh Sample

W.S. Tyler Company Cleveland Ohio Industrial Ton Cap Wire Mesh Sample

The W.S. Tyler Company started creating wire mesh in Cleavland Ohio in1872 under the name "Cleveland Wire Works". In 1880 an improved type of wire cloth was created, known as Tyler Double Crimped fallowed by the company's incorporation in 1884. In 1907 the Ton-Cap screens were developed and remains a popular product today.

W.S. Tyler created wire mesh which is used in mining test sieves. The label states this is the Ton-Cap screen which began production in 1907. This one has 3 patents listed screen

1545976 Screening Apparatus was filed in September 1920 with the inventors "PUNSHON REYNOLDS MORLEY"
1678941 was a patent for making wire woven metal screens issued in June 1928
1747631 for Wire Screen was in filed in 1927 and issued in 1930

With this information I date this piece around 1930 based on the last patent.

This is a unique piece of advertising/marketing, mining history! It would be cool in a mixed media art piece, steampunk creation, shadow box or industrial collection!

Measures 2 1/2" x 4"

Don was thrilled to have a signed contract tucked in his satchel along with all the screen samples. The mule ride back down the mountain felt much less challenging with the hope of a big bonus when he got back to Cleveland. He was also excited for a celebration dinner when the train took him back to Denver. He couldn't decide on The Brown Palace or Buckhorn Exchange. He heard tales about it's wild atmosphere and thought if he survived two mule rides up and down this narrow mountain path that he could survive that as well.

This view is of the top two floors of the Old Patent Office Building and looking down one wing. The building was designed in the Greek Revival style in the 1830s, and the original architecture and decor have been retained in this section. In the 1850s, Clara Barton worked here as a clerk to the Patent Commissioner, the first woman federal employee to receive equal pay. During the Civil War, the building was turned into military barracks, hospital, and morgue. Wounded soldiers lay on cots in third-floor galleries, among glass cases holding models of inventions that had been submitted with patent applications.
