Reduce noise in your PC (I)

Let's do a simple exercise of evocation: close your eyes and imagine that you are on the runway of an airport. Surely someone has been easier to recreate the situation, and just be by the deafening noise that makes your desktop.

As you move the power and speed of the PC, it is inevitable to increase its cooling to avoid overheating at the first opportunity. However, having a good computer is not at odds with silence if you're careful in some respects and, especially, if you put effort in which all components are of quality.

The following are some tips to help you quiet the hissing suffocating your computer.

First of all, always remember that there are two factors in the amount of noise in your tower. One is the vibration and turbulence that produce the mechanical components, turning fan and the wind flowing through the tower and the other is the friction of these parts together when worn, and with the dirt that accumulates in cooling vents.

Say thirty-three

Most times, the cause of PC noise comes from one place. To avoid unnecessary expenditure of time and money, should you locate the part or parts causing the annoying sound.

The fastest in this case is going connecting the components one by one , starting with the power supply and ending with less essential peripherals, speakers, disc players and recorders, etc. At this point, normally, is also detected if the item is defective or just needs a good cleaning.

Everything in its place

Take a quick look inside your computer and you will see three to five fans. It is normal for that amount of air generated by passing between cables and components are produced friction and, therefore, noise. One way to avoid this is to keep the cables wind flow points and subject clusters. If possible, try to bring together the bands that are compact and flexible, and avoid at all costs using rubber band or duct tape, and that eventually dry up and destroyed.

The computer on the left would give you problems … and not just noise

Disk drives are components that also need to be reviewed within the tower. Try to always be well secured to the box because, otherwise, vibration when reading or writing a disc is transmitted to the rest of it.

Similarly, make sure the position of the tower itself is adequate. A surface on one level and a good grip will cushion any vibrations that produce the fans. An easy and inexpensive remedy is to use pieces of mouse pad as a subject, if not blocking the bottom air outlet.

Above all, cleaning

There is a mother board, but a truism. Over time, dust builds up and enter through any crack. This hurts doubly because, first, because friction between the blades and axes of the fans and, on the other, blocking the air vent and forces the computer to increase its speed to keep cool.

Once every few months, try to spend a small vacuum for trouble spots , fans, sinks nearby slots through which air out … If using a cloth, make sure before you book the entire static electricity you may have.

If any of these homemade solutions helps you eliminate the annoying buzzing your tower, you may need a change of components. In the next installment, we will see some tips on choosing the quietest parts, sacrificing as little as possible in cooling and efficiency.
