Report: Patriots claim LB Edds The Patriots continued making moves on Tuesday, claiming former Dolphins ILB A.J. Edds(notes) off waivers, according to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune.The Dolphins cut Edds, a fourth-round pick in 2010, on Monday. Edds missed his entire rookie season with a torn ACL.The Patriots cut CB Darius Butler(notes).The way we see it Edds is primarily a cover linebacker who should help the team's third-down defense. He can run with tight ends and brings depth to the linebacker position, joining Gary Guyton(notes) and Dane Fletcher(notes) as backups. Undrafted rookie LB Jeff Tarpinian(notes) has been hurt, and could be a candidate for injured reserve with the addition of Edds.

Bills add OT Young off waivers; release WR Martin
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP)The Buffalo Bills have claimed second-yearoffensive tackle Sam Young(notes) off of waivers, and released journeyman receiverRuvell Martin(notes).Young is listed at 6-foot-8 and 322 pounds, and provides Buffalo a secondbackup tackle. He was claimed Tuesday, a day after being cut by the DallasCowboys. The 2010 sixth-round draft pick out of Notre Dame appeared in two gameswith the Cowboys last season. Young's addition made Martin the odd player out, and leaves the Bills withfive receivers, plus wildcat specialist Brad Smith(notes). Martin is a sixth-yearplayer, who signed with the Bills only two weeks ago.The Bills also added cornerback Doyle Miller(notes) to their practice squad threedays after cutting the undrafted rookie.Buffalo opens the regular season at Kansas City on Sunday.
