The Mac OS X shortcuts you should know



If you've never used Mac and just take the plunge, it is likely that, right now, you're in a phase of confusion and in some cases, despair. Fortunately for some and not so much for others, Mac does not have much in common with Windows. So simple things like copy text, delete a file or install a program, at first, can become a challenge.


But not all differences. Both systems do share some features. Like, for example, shortcuts. Key combinations that allow access to specific functions in a direct and instantaneous. Of course, both Windows and Mac have shortcuts but to summon key combinations are totally different.

* Press X: Force boot Mac OS X

* Alt: Change the startup volume


Finder Shortcuts


* Command+ W: Close window

* Alt +Command+ W: Close all windows


Shortcut menu commands


* Command + C: Copy

* Command+ V: Paste

* Command+ Z Undo

* Command+ X: Cut

* Command+ S: Save document

* Command+ A: Select All

* Command+ M: Close Window

* Command+ H: Hide Finder

* Command+ N: New Finder window

* Command+ O: Open selected folder

* Command+ P: Print

* Command+ D: Double

* Shift +Command+ N: Create a new folder

* Shift +Command+ F: Open Favorites

* Alt +Command+ D: Show / Hide the Dock

* Command+ Tab: Switch application

* Command+ Cursor Up: Up One Directory

* Command+ Down Arrow: Download directory

* Alt +Command+Escape: Force Quit

* Control + Eject: Open dialog box Restart, Standby or Shut Down

* Control +Command+ Eject: Close all applications and restart
