1 Chronicles 12 verse 22. "For at that time day by day there came to David to help him, until it was a great host, like the host of God." Saul was dead, and it was time for David to become King. As a young man, he was anointed by the prophet Samuel, to be the King of Israel. However, Saul was king, and David had to fight some battles to get to the time and place where God wanted him. When this time approached, God sent help from everywhere...they were eager to make David king, and "were of one.
