I simply upgraded to the D90 from the D40 as a result of I used to be bored with futzing with the white stability of the D40, and I needed extra low-gentle sensitivity (better ISO), as well as the flexibility of using quicker lenses, a lot of which aren't AF-S.
That complacency lasted until I heard about the D90. I wanted to explore HD video recording using my collection of Nikon lenses. I additionally needed to extend my ISO to 3200 for night photography. Additionally, my D70 was having issue recognizing reminiscence playing cards, so it was time for a replacement.
I have used the D90 in a wide range of situations together with dog exhibits, trip trips, weddings and receptions, and the same old family activities -- round 2500 pictures taken so far. It has been fully reliable. The photographs are wonderful quality -- that's a digicam statement, not one about my skills.
This can be the first digital SLR to have HD movie mode. You do have to focus with a purpose to file a movie but this is not replacing a video camera, this is simply one other video recording supply in case you want it while you are capturing great photos.
