CROHOOPS BLOCKBUSTER: C Mario Kasun signs 700K/1Y deal with BC Zagreb

MARIO KASUN SCRIMMAGES WITH HIS FRIENDS 2006

BC Zagreb season ticketholders have received some great news today - one of the premium Croatian frontcourt players at the moment, center Mario Kasun has signed a lucrative one-year deal with the team from Trnsko for approximately 700.000 Euros in cash and some undisclosed real estate assets.

The deal which was completed during the early hours of Monday evening in downtown Zagreb will certainly make BC Zagreb one of the major contenders for the respective NLB and Croatian Championship titles, and also extensively increase its chances in the upcoming FIBA Eurocup competition. This season BC Zagreb will play its games in the Drazen Petrovic Dome which was entirely exclusive Cibona Zagreb homecourt in the past.

Kasun, who was one of the premium NBA per minute rebounders while playing for Orlando Magic along with all-star C Dwight Howard, was definitely slowed by injuries during his two season long NBA tenure. However, he was able to bounce back and put together a nice four season Euroleague stint with FC Barcelona and Efes Pilsen.

Although there is still no official statement from the ex-Orlando Magic center a source close to him has stated that

"he is definitely looking forward to join forces with the veteran guard Damir Mulaomerovic, who was one of the premium European players during the early stage of Mario's career, and Mario always wanted to play together with him".

Mario will also have the privilege of teaming up with Croatian NT center Luka Zoric and make a formidable frontcourt tandem which will thrive from a numerous "pick and roll" plays exercised by point guards Damir Mulaomerovic and Toni Prostran. His overall defensive/offensive inside presence could relatively boost prospect's SF Dario Saric's chances of operating more easily within various defensive/offensive schemes.

This deal will also definitely increase the level of competitiveness in Croatian basketball as a whole. Kasun is not a member of Croatian NT from 2009.
