After hosting a tracking event that was very popular in the world of adrenaline sports, Croatia began Škraping - running and walking quickly by sharp coastal rocks. The name comes from the Dalmatian word “škrapa“ which means “sharp stone”. The first Škraping event was held in 2006 on the island Pašman and it’s creator is Mr. Josip Tomić, athletic professional and the club manager of AK Soline from Biograd.
Škraping is a very demanding discipline and requires great caution. You have to be able to overcome sharp rocks, wriggle through the bushes, traverse the abyss, find local roads and all the difficult-to-locate checkpoints that the organizers of the race will select and mark. The goal of organizing the race is for competitors to find and cross their boundries, to arouse interest for the sport, and to acquaint the public with the facilities that the island of Pašman offers for organizing various sport and cultural activities and for recreational tourism throughout the year.
During the race competitors will pass attractive sites across the island and so the race gets a tourist accent in terms of getting to know the contents of the island. Visitors and athletes come from neighboring and other European countries and thus directly promote the island Pašman and Croatia. Each year there is a bigger demand for accommodation by the hundreds of competitors, visitors, journalists and other participants. However, we can accommodate many athletes who are willing to participate in the race as well as their family members.
