I'm painting my apartment. It was beige, it will soon be white. The fellows from the church took away the couch today, and after I sat and looked around a bit, I went shopping for paint. The white makes it look like an art gallery, that's fine by me. So far, it makes it look fresher than the beige; eg. pale woodwork, green plant, white wall. The couch was beige (and brown) too, hardwood floor... too much stuff almost the same colour. I want to go shopping for a new couch, I have my eye on a green one from Ikea - but I figure now that I have a bit more room, it's a good opportunity to paint. My sister and my friend at work would be horrified that I'm just pushing stuff just far away enough from the wall to paint, but if I sorted it out, it would take way longer. So far it's taken me 4 hours to work through 1 can of paint... I just want to get it done. I've never used a flat finish paint before, it looks great! Most of my furniture was free, so buying new stuff, well, it's time. I've lived like a student long enough. I was starting to really hate how it looked... the couch was a weird elaborate shape, and a slipcover couldn't hide that. What clinched it was when I saw one just like it in the Trailer Park Boys movie.
