April 3rd was my first fencing competition in two and a half years, and it happened to be the biggest competition hosted by the NC Division to date, not counting Nationals. For not fencing for almost a year, I think I did pretty well- 16th out of 56. Not quite where I want to be, but better than I expected. The frustrating thing is that it's been almost two weeks, and the NC Division's website hasn't been updated with the new info. Sadly, therefore, there is no verification of my coolness.Returning to fencing is really helping the stress recede in my life... even though it in no way matters to the fate of the universe, fencing seems to matter more than work, and that helps out a lot. That also says something about my line of work, I guess. Or maybe not. Maybe it just says something about work in general.Which brings me to coffee- as in, I'm going to make some more. Anybody want a cup?I stumbled over a cool little Shambhala center (in Durham, of all places). They've got intro sessions on Sundays, and I think I'm gonna check it out.
