Pointing out of typos is appreciated.pimped @ 10_passions, soukyuu.~ One Plus One Minus One ~Kazuki is one, and Soushi is another, but more often than not in those days, they were the same. It was more than just two young boys experiencing that sacred childhood bond of friendship, and if they were normal children, it would have worried their parents. They were not however, and those who were their guardians merely turned a blind eye to a relationship that bordered on unification, on synthesis; or, at the very least, a strong affinity. Some thought that they could read each others thoughts, but this wasnt true. It was more in the eyes, the face; they could communicate sentences with just one look, entire paragraphs with a single smile, and books full of truths in a shared laugh. When Kazuki thought, he felt intrinsically that every thought which passed through belonged not just to him, but to Soushi as well. But again, it wasnt a telepathic connection; it was the shared sensation of existence they had come to accept. The presence of Soushi was always in the back of Kazukis mind, just as Kazuki was in Soushis. Perhaps, it would better explained in ontological terms: they were of two bodies and two minds, yet of one soul. This was all true up until the accident. The truth of the matter was, nobody quite knows what happened, not even Kazuki and Soushi themselves. The result, however, was evident, and for a long time, both boys walked around with the distinct feeling of having had their heart torn viciously in two.Its been years now, since the incident, and Kazuki has done well to push the occurrence back into the deepest folds of his unconscious, where he hopes it will stay. Soushi looks fine; the eye was replaced, the scar healed almost imperceptibly, and his face has long since returned to its soft, quiet beauty.Theyre friends, still, but their friendship has always remained at a level so casual that it makes them ache on the inside. Their unspoken method of communication has long been abandoned; ever since that day, Kazuki has never once looked Soushi in the eye. Hes afraid to, afraid of the memories that would surface, afraid of the daunting prospect of a demon that lives within his own mind, afraid to see the accusation and pain he thinks would be there, staring back at him, afraid most of all of the possibility that he might see nothing at all. When Kazuki must look at Soushi, he looks at his hair to the top right (Kazukis left) of Soushis temple, as far away from the faint scar that he can manage without being noticeable. But then one day, Soushi doesnt show up to homeroom and within minutes, the news reaches Kazukis ears through the (loud)mouth of Kenji: Soushi is leaving to go to Tokyo.Soushi is leaving.Soushi is leaving.Soushi is leaving.Kazuki is up and out of the school building before sensei can even draw a sufficient breath to yell after him.He runs. He runs faster than he had ever thought he could, and before he even realizes where his feet are taking him, hes at the harbor, and immediately notices from the corner of his eye the familiar image of Soushis hair, being tousled gently in the wind.Soushis boat is just now disembarking, and Kazuki swears, thinking that his timing couldnt be any worse (or better, he wonders?), and breaks into a run again toward the pier.Soushi! he yells, wondering if the power of his voice is enough to halt time for just another few moments.Soushi and Mizoguchi turn toward the combined sound of a yell and the stomping of two heavy feet running down the wooden pier. Too in shock to think of stopping the boat, they both watch in awe as Kazuki runs and runs, speed increasing to almost abnormality, and Soushi is about to scream for Kazuki to look out because hes nearing the end of the pier and hes not slowing down, except then Kazuki breaks into something like a battle cry, reaches the end, and leaps. He lands with both feet in the boat in front of Soushi and falls against him, pushing the both of them against the center mast. Kazuki, without thinking, wraps his arms tightly around Soushis body and buries his face in his hair.Dont leave, there are tears in his eyes, as well as his voice, and the sound of Kazuki in pain nearly breaks Soushis will. He squeezes back just as tightly, swallowing down the tears that threaten to overflow.I have to. Ill be back, Soushi gently eases Kazuki off of him as Mizoguchi finally thinks to stop the boats engine and turn back around. I promise.Promise? Kazuki asks, wiping the tears embarrassingly from his eyes. He makes quite the pitiful sight, swollen eyes, flushed face, still panting from his incredible run, and Soushi cant stop himself from taking him into his arms one last time.I promise, Kazuki, Soushi hates, but cant stop the emotion from seeping into his voice. Ill come back. I wont be gone long, either, okay?Kazuki squeezes desperately, the promise of a quick return not enough to quell the storm of despair boiling in his chest. He grasps tightly onto the back of Soushis shirt, the knuckles of his fists going white, as he clenches his teeth and fights down the anguish working its way up his throat. Getting his breathing back under control, he finally pulls away slowly, hanging his head so as to hide the red and puffy state of his face.Ill see you then, the despair is gone from his voice, masked by an empty monotone attempting to control his emotions. Kazuki looks up then to say goodbye properly, and nearly chokes as his eyes meet Soushis. The years of lost time are passed between them in an instant with a single look amongst four individual eyes, or three depending on your perspective. Too many unshared thoughts and emotions come at them at once, and they both have to turn away in order to retain their facade of calm. Kazuki swallows and steps off the boat, staring in wonder as Soushi is carried away.Goodbye, Kazuki, Soushi smiles at him, and Kazuki feels years worth of happiness withheld in his own heart reflected back at him.Goodbye, Soushi, he croaks out, and although his voice isnt loud enough to reach Soushi over the buzz of the motor, Soushi hears the words well enough.~~~~~~~~~~~FIN~~~~~~~~~~~. . . I always feel awkward trying out a fandom for the first time. >.< So, what's the verdict folks? :D
