I just recieved a phone call from Mom. My sister's water broke tonight on baby #2. There's just one catch...she's 10 weeks early. The baby is technically "due" March 28. They have begun giving her medicines to try to stop the labor and they think that if the baby doesn't come tonight or tomorrow, she proably won't come for at least 2-3 more weeks. If she doesn't come, poor sister is in the hospital until the baby does come. The word is, possibly as much as 7 weeks before they would do an early c-section anyway. Either way, Ms. Baby will be in the hospital, in an incubator for a month or more. Here's the good news:The baby is perfectly formed and appears to be absolutely healthy. They have been giving her some kind of steroid injections to help her lungs grow a little faster. Mom and baby will be in one of the best neo-natal hospitals in the country. The doctors say that they are 99.9% sure that if the baby does come today, she will be just fine.Apparently, when Elliott and Dad left the hospital tonight, he looked at Mom and said, "Mamma Boo-Boo??" They just told him that Mom has a boo-boo and that he will see her tomorrow. How, on God's green earth, do you explain this to a 2 year old? My sister's a strong lady. Even so, please put your prayers in for her and the baby. They could use it. Who knows....maybe I'll be an Auntie again by morning?!
