The Wishing Tree is an acoustic music project by Marillion s guitarist
Steve Rothery and British vocalist Hannah Stobart
Rothery has played guitar in Marillion since 1984 who s music has often
been described as neo-prog, although it is broader than that, often
with a
somewhat wistful and spiritual edge. They don t really sound like
anyone else
Stobart has a lovely ethereal quality to her voice, which shows in the
whole recording, and features some delicate and ghostly harmonies, some
mandolin and understated guitars providing a backdrop to the vocals
Rothery excels himself, playing some fine acoustic guitar, and when
Rothery does let go with one of his trademark solos, he, as ever, makes
the instrument sing
