From Cold Harbor, Gravesend, Tom Allalone & The 78s brand of retro pop meets garage rock 'n' roll has been likened to Elvis Costello and The Attractions covering Billy Fury by way of The Godfathers. With songs that'll make you wanna leave home in the middle of the night, it's a hard-boiled, liquor-soaked, fairytale world.
The band (Tom, Richard, Matt and Si) signed with Nettwerk records last year. 'Hell Hath No Fury' (a fast-rolling rockabilly number with a shuddering Elvis curl) was the first single to be taken from the forthcoming debut album, Major Sins (Part 1), produced by Gareth Parton (Foals, Pipettes, Pete & The Pirates, The Go! Team) and Neil Luckett. The album's set for UK release May 2009 with the next single, 'Crashland', due out in April.
