Between hip hop as nicely bricolo as learnedly abstract, pop bizarroïdement shifted and terrestrial extra folk music, the first album of Pastry Case is a very beautiful surprise carried out with three pieces of string, at the house… Wheelchair And Jogging Suit is a new bright proof that the relative n' lack of means; handicap that those which n' do not have d' ideas, which n' listen to any disc or which wants to sound like formatted artists hyper (and thus uninteresting with possible). At years light of the commercial world, Pastry Case creates environments LO Fi with instruments which seem ancient and of limp at rates/rhythms at the end of the lifetime, but l' inspired use which is made by it gives a fresh, strange, barred and captivating result. The distorted voices, the air choruses, the organ envoûtants and the happy battered ones form a sound maelstrom with the virtues oneiric and renovating, which evokes the original productions of the Anticon label. But not that… As on scene, one also thinks of a kind of brass band pop hip/folk fallen from the sky and mislaid at the bottom of wood in a clearing, with a tiny sound system, a microphone d' another age, some percussions and other instruments recycled. Between tough melancholy, motionless sound voyage and insupportable lightness of the atmospheres, the pieces of Pastry Case allure durably and mark l' listener. Thanks to their atours at the same time kitsch and modern, with the multiples bidouillages on the sound and the melodies nicely contagious.
