Being signed to one of the most storied record labels in music history has its valleys and peaks. And while only a few know the feeling, no one may know it better than Tha Realest who is preparing to release his debut album Witness Tha Realest on July 14th from Team Dime Entertainment and RBC Records.

Proving his depth in the game, Witness Tha Realest isn’t your typical debut. The album features assistance from Ray J, Fat Joe, WC, J. Valentine, Crooked I, Yukmouth, EDI of Tha Outlawz, Devin The Dude, Sean P, C-Bo, and more. Witness Tha Realest will finally see the light of day after being over ten years in the making.

Get It N is the album’s street single, produced by Detail of Konvict Music and is already making rounds in clubs across the nation.

Having signed to Death Row Records in 1996, Tha Realest is best known for looking and sounding similar to Tupac Shakur. Often having to address rumors that it was he who recorded many posthumous Pac verses, that would ultimately appear on the late rappers own records released after his passing.

He made his musical debut on the Gang Related soundtrack, appearing in two songs with rapper J-Flexx under the pseudonym Tenkamenin, sharing his name with a 11th century African Emperor of the Ghana Empire. In 1999, he performed seven tracks on the Death Row collaboration Suge Knight Represents: Chronic 2000. He would again appear on yet another Death Row compilation titled Too Gangsta for Radio, performing on two songs.

Tha Realest left Death Row Records in 2002 to form his own record label, 2Real Entertainment (later Omerta Entertainment). Now, in conjunction with RBC Records and NBA Superstar Mike Bibby’s Team Dime Ent., Tha Realest is set to release his first solo record Witness Tha Realest on July 14th.

Blaq Poet is not satisfied with the current direction of hip-hop. Never one to sit on the sidelines, Poet is preparing the release of a new album to bring listeners back to the hardcore, gritty, New York boom-bap sound for which he’s known and loved. Giving a glimpse into the Queensbridge state of mind that influences his sound, Poet says, “QB is like everything you heard. It’s home to those who live there, and it’s definitely not home to people who don’t.” Following the critical success of his debut solo LP “Rewind: Deja Screw” in 2006, Poet has been busy in the lab perfecting “Tha Blaqprint” and the new album is finally ready for the masses.

Creating unadulterated, authentic, New York boom bap requires the right touch, and to ensure “Tha Blaqprint” would have the proper musical aesthetic Blaq Poet joined forces with legendary producer, long-time collaborator, and friend DJ Premier. Not only is DJ Premier releasing the album on his own Year Round Records, he also crafted beats for all but two of the album’s tracks, including the album’s lead single “Ain’t Nuttin’ Changed.” Elsewhere the album features production from producer-extraordinaire Easy Mo Bee (The Notorious B.I.G., GZA, 2Pac) and Gemcrates, a young producer on the rise. In a time when albums lack musical consistency and emcees and producers rarely find themselves in the studio together, Poet’s true-school formula shines bright on his new LP.

Poet, a native of the Queensbridge projects, first made a name for himself in 1987, with the release of “Beat You Down,” a scathing song attacking KRS-One at the height of the battle between Queens and The Bronx. Later, honoring a dead friend, he formed the hardcore rap group Screwball, comprised of other QB rhymers Hostyle, Solo, and Poet’s cousin KL. After the release of three successful albums as a part of Screwball that included production from hip-hop luminaries such as Pete Rock, Marley Marl, and DJ Premier, Poet released his solo LP “Rewind: Deja Screw”, to high acclaim. Staying busy in-between albums, Poet’s unique brand of rhyming has graced numerous projects, including the landmark KRS-One and Marley Marl song “The Victory”.

10 To the Ghosts Who Write History Books 3:28

12 To Ohio (Reprise) 3:40

The Low Anthem's unique brand of Americana makes room for gospel, folk, and blues, a blend that began taking shape in the trio's hometown of Providence, RI.

The Low Anthem cover all their Americana bases with Oh My God, Charlie Darwin, an album that alternates between old-timey country, secular gospel, and harmonized folk. Few bands handle such wide swaths of music with grace, and even fewer manage to steer clear of sepia-toned pastiche in the process. Charlie Darwin is that rare exception, a hybrid of old traditions and contemporary flourishes that sounds at once earthy, ethereal, and uncalculated. Led by frontman Ben Knox Miller, the band resurrects old genres like folk anthropologists, using acoustic instruments (as well as some more esoteric additions, including a refurbished pump organ from the first World War) as their tools of choice. "Charlie Darwin" and "Cage the Songbird" are vocal showcases, padded with three-part harmonies and thick layers of reverb, while a cover of Tom Waits' "Home I'll Never Be" eschews intimacy for ramshackle energy, sounding like a field recording from the late-night hours of a country jamboree. The band makes multiple stops in between those styles, pitching their tent closer to the alt country-rock camp with "Champion Angel" before going to church for the gospel-tinged "Omgcd." Miller steals the spotlight throughout -- he's a falsetto crooner during the opening track, a boot-stomping bluesman on "The Horizon Is a Beltway," a Dylan disciple on the folksier tracks -- but this is still a group effort, with string contributions by Jocie Adams a flurry of instrumental activity by co-founder Jeffrey Prystowsky. There's a lot of ground covered here, of course, yet the band never loses sight of its destination, and those who can keep up are in for a tuneful journey.

Drew puts his feelings, and ours, into words and music that capture the spirit and soul of the world around us all with a common thread: Hope. Produced by Michael Crittenden

Growing organically from the sessions that produced the band’s initial trio of songs, which also garnered the group a number of songwriting awards, Stars Go Dim now returns with its full length debut, Love Gone Mad, to be released August 4, 2009. In the course of ten tracks, the band explores the range of emotions when love does just that.

According to producer Julian Raymond, "Cheap Trick are fun to record because
they are each a master of their craft, and there are so many great new songs on
this record. But we also included an old one called 'When The Lights Are Out.' I
couldn't believe it wasn't released in '76 when the band did it. I insisted they
put it on the record just as it was.".

12 Five Weeks 5:44
13 The Likes 3:48

It's often difficult for artists to break out of their comfort zone and develop
new material that "doesn't sound like us." Sliding back into established and
successful patterns like a late-Saturday drunken booty text message can seem
unavoidable. Pushing forward is tough enough, but then you have Growlers, the
slamming alter-ego rock mutation of Boston's punky-dub establishment Destroy
Babylon. They don't just stretch boundaries, they blast apart an already mighty
Voltron and reform into a Death Star with their debut, What Heights?

After a boiling bass rumble from Chris Moran and a scratchy riffing assault
intro that conjures a glitch-less Trent Reznor, Growlers erupts from its ripe
Jamaican Babylon buds with Marc Beaudette's Gatling-tom assault on "Lap Dance"
and announces: "No more kisses/It's just business." The now-established
theatrical vibe, all blink-less captivating direction without Hollywood cheese
persists throughout the record. "Lap Dance" flows straight into guitarist John
Beaudette's trumpet-commanded battle march "All But The Bones" as the act pushes
on. Guitarist Rob Carmichael's voice has a pureness to it that insists on
empathy and breathes life into the story of the verses. While remaining
stunningly solid, his gentle inflections and well-placed imperfections expose
the passion underneath the power. Visions of Angel Dust era Faith No More in all
their sonic glory and bittersweet nostalgia flicker across the Growlers big
screen

The record benefits from tight production permitting effortless identification
of each part, but still enables a total package that synergizes a sum greater
than its parts. Tasty squelches, swoops and delay top the aural cake like
pinches of sprinkles, not carelessly slathered icing

"Crawl," can almost be called dub with its accented hi-hat and bass
undercurrent, but it patiently transforms as foglight vocals slice through haze
and ambitious drums leave the pattern behind to crescendo into an avalanche of
time-keeping fills. This reluctance to follow predictable patterns is a pattern
that serves the band well throughout the album

After some spacey interludes and the Spanish guitar excursion of "Blue Ribbon,"
Growlers finish strong and serious with the sad, multi-voice harmonies of "Five
Weeks." "Do you ever change?" Carmichael cries and begs after climactic
shredding, leading the acoustic strumming and tinkling piano-backed lament into
the lap steel confessional "The Likes." Despite the diamond-crunching pressure
at the top of What Heights?, the dual-finale proves even more engaging as the
line "I've never seen a fire burn, but not consume"

11. After Suicide ( 1:48)
12. If You Believe In Cleveland ( 3:55)
13. Ballad Of The Bootleg ( 2:42)

O.G. Seattle rockers and the reverends of the irreverent the Young Fresh
Fellows are back with I Think This Is, their first full album since 2001, and
25 years since the release of their ground-breaking first LP, Fabulous Sounds
of the Pacific Northwest

Before grunge and way before indie was so indie, Fellows Scott McCaughey
Kurt Bloch, Tad Hutchison and Jim Sangster were issuing their signature
shotgun blasts of punk energy and wry lyricism. I Think This Is is no
exception

Produced by Robyn Hitchcock, the album is a compendium of punk, college rock
and 60s pop, from the propulsive guitar rawk of "Shake Your Magazines" and
"After Suicide," to the psych-tinged melancholy of "The Guilty Ones" and
"Never Turning Back Again." With I Think This Is, the YFF remind us that two
guitars, bass and drums, plus a barrel of beer is still the perfect recipe
for success. Or maybe failure. But that's cool

20. UUVVWWZ - UUVVWWZ (2009) (Indie) (Rapidshare)

01. Berry Can ( 5:17)
02. Shark Suit ( 2:58)

06. Green Starred Sleeve ( 3:19)
07. Trapezeus ( 3:42)
08. The Sun ( 5:00)
09. Hum Jam ( 6:20)

UUVVWWZ (pronounce it 'double u, double v, double w, z') formed in 2007 in
Lincoln, NE. The four member group has a style that is hard to categorize
with its female vocalist, electronic rock beats, and lyrics that range from
"a suit made of shark teeth" to "I could see watching you/On the surface of
the sun." The debut album was recorded at Fuse in Lincoln and mixed in Omaha
with A.J. Mogis who records the many of Saddle Creeks albums

The album is a very fun listen and even though much of the lyrics seem
nonsensical, singing along seems inevitable. Notable tracks include "Green
Starred Sleeve" and "Jap Dad," with a fast-paced chorus spelling out
"M.A.K.E. M.E. L.O.V.E. Y.O.U." The slow songs are not quite as memorable as
the dance-able beats, but they still have merit. For a first album, this
young band is doing good and are sure to earn many more followers in the
future
