All-star weekend was a huge success, especially since D-Rose was able to capture the skills performance. He looked pretty winded in the rookie-sophomore challenge which was his second game in 24 hours after the Heat beat the Bulls at the United Center the night before. Kevin Durant was able to pretty much own the rookies in a game with off the meter ENTERTAINMENT value . Kobe and Shaq were co-MVP winners after another made for TV performance by O'Neal and the Jabberwockeez during the introductions.
Trade reports are changing hourly as far as what steps the Bulls will take next. There have been names floated in the last week such as Amare Stoudemire and Brad Miller, but apparently the Bulls are checking the tires on a wide variety of players including Marcus Camby (LAC), Chris Kaman (LAC), and my personal fave Chris Bosch (TOR). The Hornets just traded Tyson Chandler to OKC. BOS moved Sam Cassell to LAC. Both of these moves are salary dumps and many of the moves before the Thursday deadline are expected to be of this nature. Vince Carter is being shopped by NJ and the latest rumors have him going to POR for the LaFrentz contract or to HOU for T-Mac (who is now out for the season). CLE has also been shopping Wally Sczerbiak's expiring contract and the latest reports have WAS sending over Antawn Jamison or Milwaukee (currently set to pay luxury tax) parting with Richard Jefferson.
Fantasy basketball - injuries, trades, and coaching changes will effect players value in the next few days. T-Mac is out for the season, so Von Wafer has value (HOU). Ditto Ryan Gomes and Kevin Love since Al Jefferson (MIN) won't be back. If Vince Carter (NJ) is traded to a CONTENDER (such as San Antonio or Portland) thirty point games will become a thing of the past. Terry Porter gets fired and Alvin Gentry prefers to start Leandrinho Barbosa (PHO). Keep an eye on box scores and injury reports to get a head-up on opponents who might not wake up until lunchtime!
