The 11th Slovenian Haiku Contest

Send up to six haiku which must not be previously published or under consideration elsewhere. Language: Slovene or English or Serbian or Croatian.
»The most 'pure', concise and poetic« forms will be selected regardless of the 5-7-5 syllable count or their topic.
Authors of awarded haiku will get literary prizes and commendations.
The best haiku will be published in Apokalipsa journal in the summer of 2009.
The results of the contest will be announced publicly. Each awarded author will be separately informed.

Deadline: December 15, 2008.

Send your submissions signed with a cipher to REVIJA APOKALIPSA, Ulica Lili Novy 25, 1000 Ljubljana (subject: for Haiku Contest).

Authors' data (name and surname, address, and e-mail address) encoding the cipher are to be sent in a separate envelope.

Moonset Competition
Deadline: in hand by February 1, 2009.
Separate categories for haiku, senryu, tanka, renku, haibun and haiga.
Fees: $2.00 per entry, no limit on entry number.
Categories: A = Haiku, B = Senryu, C = Tanka, D = Haibun, E = Haiga.
Rules: open style, no theme, but must be unpublished and original work.
Only winners will be notified by March 1, the results will be published in the Spring/Summer 2009 issue of moonset LITERARY NEWSPAPER.
PRIZES:
First Place = one free bi-annual subscription to moonset for each winner (or a recipient of their choice), and an Award Certificate.
Second Place = one free copy of moonset for each winner (or a recipient of their choice), plus an Award Certificate.
Third Place = Award Certificate.
Honorable Mention (one) = Publication in the next moonset.

Robert Spiess Memorial Haiku Award Competition 2009
Deadline: In hand no later than March 13, 2009.
Theme: Haiku are to be written in the spirit of the following “Speculation” (Robert Spiess, A Year’s Speculations on Haiku, Modern Haiku Press, 1995): In haiku the juxtaposition or “confrontation” of entities produces a tension charged with energy that generates an insight, intuition or felt-depth of an aspect of reality; it is a movement, a birth, that leads to a new level of awareness [Prompted in part by a passage of C.G. Jung’s].
Entries must be in English. Each entry must be the original, unpublished work of the author, and should not be under consideration in a contest or for publication elsewhere. For purposes of this competition, appearance of a haiku in an Internet journal, a Web site, or a blog is considered publication, but sharing haiku on a private e-mail list is not. Of course, entries should not appear in an Internet journal, Web site, blog, or haiku list during the term of the competition.
Poets may submit a maximum of five haiku. Entries should be typed or printed legibly.
Submit three copies of each haiku on plain white 3´´ x 5´´ cards or paper. The haiku (one haiku per card) should appear on the face of each card. The poet’s name, mailing address, telephone number, and e-mail address (if any) should appear on one of the three cards, in the upper left-hand corner above the haiku; the other two copies should contain only the haiku. Please keep a copy of your submission; entries will not be returned. Please follow the instructions carefully: entries that are incomplete or that do not comply with the instructions will be discarded.
Entry fee: $1 per haiku, cash or check (U.S. funds); make checks payable to Modern Haiku.

Awards:
