Depeche Mode - Speak And Spell
I pulled this one out on a whim a few days ago and was amazed at how great it sounds. Daniel Miller's production influence shouldn't be underestimated here, because there's a fair bit of the bubblegum harmonies that were so heavily featured on The Silicon Teens album. That said, Gahan is a proper singer and the fizzing pop melodies of Vince Clark are among his best work, being the equal of The Yazoo albums.
