GILBERTOLOGY TO THE MAX: while in Philippines, Arenas signs 111M/6Y deal with Wizards...

OVO NIJE BILA IGRICA/JORDAN vs SUNS 1992/93 REGULAR SEASON: What a sneak preview of that year's Finals. With the Bulls meeting the top-winning team that year in the Suns, we all knew MJ would raise his game and enter his zone - which he obviously did. MJ mixed in his regular amazing shots with some rarities you'll ever see anyone do ever and today: a half-court, lefty-drive dunk, a fast-break stop/pop jumper and a ridiculous, finger-roll. Hitting 61%, MJ made disgusting shot after shot to bring the Bulls down from 11 to tie it up with seconds left in the game. Fortunately for the Suns, super PG Kevin Johnson came through with some amazing, slithering drives and Barkley punctuated the end with his own clutch, power shots in the waning seconds. But MJ's masterful performance was just a harbinger of what was to come later in the finals that year, which we all know of course. - Hoopsencyclopedia.blogspot.com

Arch Rivals(MIDWAY/ACCLAIM-Nintendo,Sega Genesis/Megadrive)

Arkadna košarka koja nudi 10-ak NBA ekipa sa izmišljenim igračima,tj. košarka koja se ne trudi biti ozbiljna. Evo što drugi kažu o ovoj igri.

A full game consists of four quarters, with four minutes each. Each team has two players, and the objective of the game is to outscore the opponent until the final buzzer sounds.

If the game results in a tie after four quarters, a sudden death overtime period is added, in which case the next basket to go in will win the game for the team who scored it. The overtime period is one minute long. A player can call for his teammate to pass him the ball or to shoot it in this battle royale.

There are eight characters that the player can play as, each with a unique characteristic. They are:

Blade: A crowd pleaser

Hammer: Rebound king

Lewis: Top shooter

Mohawk: Tough & mean

Moose: A real champ

Reggie: All-American

Tyrone: Defensive giant

Vinnie: A great player

The big drawing point of Arch Rivals is the ability to punch the opposing player (which the player is encouraged to do), after which they can steal the ball. Sometimes, soda cans and candy wrappers are thrown onto the floor. If a ballhandler steps on those, he falls onto the floor, and his opponent can then steal the ball from him. Since there are no fouls called in Arch Rivals (the referee is very nearsighted), players can punch their opponents as many times as they want. Players could also fall over by referee and take his trousers down.

Whenever a basket is scored (for either two or three points), there are many random scenes that may be played. One scene has the coach yelling at his players, another features players from the other team groaning in disgust, and two scenes have cheerleaders shouting: "Go team go!"

Sometimes, the backboard can be shattered with a rim-rattling slam dunk. This effect was later carried over to the much better-known NBA Jam, which is often said to be a spinoff of Arch Rivals.

The TV studio depicted in the game is that of the fictional WIDB-TV. It is shown after the end of each quarter and also at halftime. In addition, after the first and third quarters, a "Coaches Corner" screen also appears, providing tips on how to become a better player. The cheerleading squad performs the halftime show. The final stats are shown at the end of the game, showing how many points the human-controlled player scored, and also the number of steals and rebounds, and even his shooting percentage.

The teams in Arch Rivals are selected at random, with Player 1 playing as the home team and Player 2 (or the computer) as the away team. The teams in the arcade version are Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Denver, Natural High whose jerseys are colored like the Boston Celtics and Brawl State which references the Golden State Warriors. Some versions feature the names of actual NBA teams, like the Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns and Detroit Pistons.

Also, the game could be set up to show the teams of local high school or college teams.

Fernando Martin Basket Master(DINAMIC/IMAGINE-Amstrad CPC,Commodore 64/128,ZX Spectrum 48/128K)

"Basket Master" is a one-on-one basketball game from premier Spanish developer Dinamic Soft, dedicated to NBA player Fernando Martín, the first Spanish (and first European non-student in a US university) to play in the NBA, who tragically died 3 years later in a traffic accident at the age of 28.

The focus is on pure, unadulterated action here: just choose one- or two-player game, and presto-- you'll be out on a CGA court trying to score. Although difficulty level can be toggled ("amateur" or "NBA").

Basket Master was originally for 8 bits computers, platforms for which appeared December of 1986 after several delays.

Lakers vs. Celtics and the NBA Playoffs(ELECTRONIC ARTS-PC,Sega Genesis/Megadrive)

Jedna od prvih košarkaških simulacija sa NBA licencom (ali nepotpunom), licenciranim igračima, i s karakteristikama svakog igrača iz stvarnosti. Evo što drugi kažu o ovoj igri.

Lakers vs. Celtics is a basketball game featuring real NBA teams. Gameplay is action-oriented with an emphasis on offense. Play an exhibition game or try to win the NBA title in the playoff tournament mode. A season mode is not available. You can substitute tired players but there aren't any other management options.

The DOS version has ten '88-'89 NBA teams, including the East and West All-Stars. You can play with some of the biggest names in NBA history including Kareem, Bird, Jordan and Ewing. Several star players have their own signature move.

The Genesis version, which was released one year later, has ten NBA teams from the '89-'90 season. It also adds more signature moves, different home- and away-jerseys, player portraits for the starting five, voice-samples for the referee and counts the number of personal fouls a players has committed.

Double Dribble(KONAMI-Amiga,Commodore 64/128,Nintendo,PC)

Solidna košarkaška simulacija će se zapamtiti po plesu cheerledersica i po tome što je to prva košarkaška simulacija “Made in Japan”. Evo što drugi kažu o ovoj igri.

Double Dribble is a basketball video game by Konami. The original version was an arcade game released in 1986. In September of 1987 a version followed for Nintendo's Nintendo Entertainment System. A version was also released for the Commodore 64 computer. The NES version features 5-on-5 action on a horizontally scrolling court, four different teams (Boston Frogs, New York Eagles, Chicago Ox, L.A. Breakers), three levels of single-play difficulty, and four different choices of quarter lengths. Double Dribble was among the first games to feature cut scenes, which depicted a mid-air player completing a slam dunk, and one of the first to use speech, though in a limited quantity (such as announcing the game title and the game's beginning jump ball). The game was also notable for "The Star-Spangled Banner" being played in a cut scene depicting the crowd entering the stadium before the match begins, as well as displaying a half-time cheerleader performance.
