Croatian economy today is under influence of inflation and high price of “black gold”. The prices of food and other agriculture products are going up rapidly. Rate of inflation in this year will rise more than 6.2 percent. The standard of Croatian people fell down increasingly last few months. Croatia also has problems with negotiations for entrance to European Union. Main problem is corruptive law system and sea borders with Slovenia. Exactly, Slovenia is capital of European Union for this period (6 months) and they ask Croatia to postpone Secured Ecology Fishing Area, known as ZERP in Croatia. Croatian Prime Minister Dr. Sanader invite Slovenia and Italia for meeting where they will discus about sea borders and who has right to do the fishing in Piran bay. Let’s back to corruptive law system. For example, when you need some papers to sell your house you need to gave some money to officers or you will wait for months and lose your customer for house. Another situation is when you killed someone in car accident you can pay to judge and you will be free. Ridicules, but truth. Also those problems are found in medical system, hospitals, clinics and other health institutions. When you need surgery you must pay it or you can die. So to be health in Croatia you must be very rich or pray God for your health. If you have money to pay additional health insurance you will not have problems if you will be ill in future. Latest problem in Croatia is becoming Kosovo as independent republic. Serbia means that Kosovo is part of Serbia and ask for help Russia. Friendship between Serbia and Russia means threat of possibly war on Balkan. In that way Croatian tourism this summer season will be crashed and Croatia has income about seven milliard euros from tourism per year and taxes of that income are important for republic budget. So if we have highly expenditures for social security to protect unemployed people from inflation we need good tourism season on Adriatic Sea. I hope that Croatia will become member of European Union until 2010 and that living standard will be higher true next few years with lower rate of unemployment that consist of 14.5 percent today that is high when we compare it with our neighborhood countries such as Slovenia and Austria. And at the end I will say you the reason why I write this post on English. I will spend this summer abroad, in International Summer School so I have to exercise my English.
