R.E.M. su Američki Indie/Rock glazbeni sastav koji je počeo svirati 1980.g. Oni su jedan od najduže živećih i najuspješnijih bendova u povijesti glazbe, sa 13 studijskih albuma (Od toga su 6 albuma bili #1 u Velikoj Britaniji), 49 singlova i preko 80 milijuna prodanih albuma širom svijeta.
R.E.M. je svojim zvukom utjecao na mnoge glazbenike danas, kao Coldplay, The Bambi Molesters i sl., te pjesme R.E.M.-a su se konstantno puštale na MTV-u.
R.E.M. su 1980. osnovali Peter Buck - gitara, Mike Mills - bas gitara, Michael Stipe - glavni vokal i Bill Berry - bubnjevi 1980-1997. Nakon što je Bill Berry na koncertu 1995. godine preživio moždani udar, konačno je odlučio 1997 izaći iz R.E.M.-a. Nakon toga Peter Buck, Mike Mills i Michael Stipe odlučuju nastaviti svirati kao trio.
