Another week, another edition of Fools and Football Pools. Well, after what has been two rather successful weeks without a win to show for it, I decide to take a trip south. South, that is, to the bottom john harbaugh the weekly standings. Too many culprits to name, but two stand out. The Miami Dolphins, who got my pick because of my gut feeling that they were due to finally win john harbaugh and the New Orleans Saints with what has to be one of the most foolish play calls that I have ever witnessed.
Given my reasoning that the New York Jets were playing as awful as any team in the NFL, I figured that the Dolphins, fresh after hanging with the Pittsburgh Steelers for over 59 minutes only to lose 3-0, were ready to seize the moment and claim their first victory of the season. Unfortunately for me, the Jets woke up and pounded the Dolphins 40-13. But the worst was the New Orleans Saints. Sitting on a 3 point lead, with less than three minutes left in the game, the Saints called a reverse when all they needed was to run out the clock. Of course, I just had to be watching the game when Reggie Bush fumbled the ball trying to complete the reverse. Naturally, Tampa Bay recovered and sent me to yet another loss.
To make matters worse, the wife, who is now watching football on a weekly basis, reclaimed the top spot for the week. Ive got four weeks to make this right. If john harbaugh doesnt get any better, Im going to have to write off the football season and concentrate on college basketball. Ill be entering another pool in March, and I need to john harbaugh ready. Not only that, one of the players in my football pool wants to have a pick contest for the upcoming college football bowl games. Yes, Ill probably do that too. I think its a sickness; why else would I keep doing something for which Ive shown no discernible skill? Perhaps the answer is in the title of the post.
