Today I will steal from the gamebook of Steven Colbert, the so called "word of the day." As many of you have realized, in addition to the training, hard work, fair-play, and team spirit that goes into playing well at tournaments, which "ultimately" is our goal, there is also a bit of---silliness, humor, craziness, and fun that is a part of ultimate (Josh is rolling his eyes at this point), or at least West coast ultimate. This can be especially effective if combined with the WORD OF THE DAY, which is = UNIFORM.
Nothing helps bring together a team like a good uniform, which brings the team together and lets the opponents know they are up against a group of individuals that are working in unison, ready to open a can of ultimate whoop-ass. And the word of the day is not just "jersey", because I think it is the whole package. Especially at tournaments like Weiz, which corresponds to Maškare/Karneval.
So here is a photo from the archve of Prez Inferno suiting up in his uniform for the Potlatch tournament in Seattle. Notice the assistance of team members...this is like a knight putting on his armor to go into battle. You can also see the faded red/pink Hawaiian shirt that I wore at hundreds of games...this uniform defined our team (everyone had a different colored light and dark Hawaiian shirt, and we certainly made an impression on the field).
So, this is a reminder to order your jerseys/uniforms from Ivan, and to think of a crazy outfit for the tournament in Weiz.
