When I asked her Saturday if she wanted me to put the baby's name (which I don't know yet) on mychael knight return address labels for the birth announcements, she said no, that she didn't want any type of advertisement about the baby on anything because there were too many crazies out there and remember how that one infant was snatched because the family had put up a "It's a Girl" stock announcement on the front lawn.I was about to laugh at her, but then though again about it.

Questions Raised About Timeliness of Amber AlertThe newborn was kidnapped around 1:20 a.m.

On Saturday, but the Amber Alert didn't go to media outlets for another seven hours, and some are asking "What took so long?"Lubbock Police tell NewsChannel 11 as soon as officers arrived at the scene early Saturday morning, action was taken. They didn't send an Amber Alert but did send an alert over police radio and information was shared with other law enforcement agencies. Then after further investigation police sent out an alert known as Beyond Missing.

This alert was shared with regional agencies. As more time went by, authorities then decided to issue an Amber Alert to the public. Before that Amber Alert can be issued, authorities must meet the following guidelines: Law enforcement must confirm that an abduction has taken place. The child is at risk of serious injury or death. There is sufficient descriptive information of a child, captor or captor's vehicle. The child must be 17 years old or younger. In this case, once those criteria were met authorities sent that Amber Alert to the media and the public."Within an hour, hour and half of the Amber Alert going out, I was receiving telephone calls from national media outlets.

Within a two hour period, we received over 200 telephone tips.

I would say that would be a very big part is the media's assistance," says Lieutenant Scott Hudgens.Hudgens says he wants to thank the public for also calling in and helping with those tips that eventually led to the arrest of a suspect and the return of baby Mychael. At some point, there will be a meeting between local law enforcement agencies to discuss how they could improve their strategy and timing should Lubbock ever need to activate another Amber Alert.http://www.kcbd.com/Global/story.asp?S=6216306
