Popular, textural and undisputably quality stuff...I'd also guess The Edge, but that's highly subjective.
Mega-popular and highly textural, but U2 are either the Messiahs of Rawk or bloated shite depending on who you ask.

Those are 2 pretty good examples.
Especially The Edge, I don't think anyone has ever put him in their top 5 guitarists, but he's written some of the most recognizable guitar parts of all time.
